About me: |
I consider myself to be an amateur artist who mainly works with ceramics (pottery, clay) and most of the time I tend to do sculptural rather than non-sculptural pieces. I believe ceramics is purely based on creativity, it assists you to un-clutter your mind and help you reinstate yourself with an altered perspective for things and ideas. In my artwork, depending on the task at hand I try and increase the dynamic between audience and author by objectifying emotions and investigating the duality that develops through different interpretations. I also tend to not settle for average and go above and beyond if I can, even though sometimes it interferes with the project at hand.
Clay is very enjoyable for me and it is one of the few classes that actually make me feel vivacious. Even though I don't believe I am transcendent at it I still try and concentrate on a sort of formal association which opens a unique poetic vein. I don’t relish making plain or ordinary things, rather I enjoy making the individual looking at my project and envision the perplexity. There’s always a side of mystery as to what was going on in the artists mind when they made their project. I tend to start off with simple forms then build on and add different parts which to the individual glimpsing at the piece would get a very eerie, maybe even a "this is strange," vibe. I strive to add more outside pieces to my artwork instead of making everything I can just out of clay. A lot of my artwork doesn’t make sense, I start off with a plain idea then from that I hope I can build off of that and add my own idea and perspective by adding a weird twist that shows off my artistic side. I also tend to like my pieces to have meaning in them if I can, or put a story behind my projects. |
